Dear Clean Break,
I'd like to share an example about using the Clean Break tools to successfully quit smoking: Four days after completing the five classes, I went to New York City with
my best friend. While sitting in a restaurant on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, my friend was suddenly shot through the restaurant window in what was apparently a stray or
random gunshot. He was taken to the nearest hospital and I waited for several hours while he underwent surgery to remove a bullet from his leg. While waiting, I sat in a
lounge with three other people who, like me, were waiting all night while their family members underwent treatment. All three smoked constantly and continued to offer me cigarettes
throughout the night. Using the tools I learned in Clean Break, I managed to work through my stress that night without smoking. I still use the "tools" I received in CB
in many other areas of my life where not wanting to see things honestly sometimes is attractive but ultimately painful.
